Headline number

Behavioral health treatment-center admit lines miss 25–38% of inbound calls, with concentration in after-hours (6 p.m.–8 a.m.), weekends, holidays, lunch, and shift change.

Sample

Aggregated from DIAL3D pre-deployment audits of 142 admit lines at addiction treatment centers, mental health programs, detox facilities, and IOP/PHP programs across the United States. Audit window: Q1 2025 through Q1 2026.

Definitions

Inbound call: A telephone call to the published admit-line number, including calls that ring out without being answered.

Missed call: A call that (a) was not answered by a human within 30 seconds, (b) routed to voicemail without callback within 60 minutes, OR (c) was abandoned by the caller before being answered.

Admit line: The phone number a treatment center publishes for admissions inquiries (distinct from billing, clinical, or alumni lines).

Distribution

The range reflects variance across facility types: single-facility programs with high counselor-to-call ratios cluster at the lower end (25–28%). Multi-facility operators with overflow during peak hours cluster at the higher end (32–38%). After-hours-only measurement (6 p.m.–8 a.m.) ran 38–59% missed across the sample.

Limitations

  • – Self-selection bias: facilities that engaged DIAL3D for audit may have higher pre-existing missed-call concern than the population average.
  • – Geographic concentration: Florida, California, Texas, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Colorado overrepresented (where DIAL3D customer base concentrated in 2025).
  • – Self-reported phone-system data normalized where possible; outlier records excluded after manual review.
